BILINGUAL NEWS REPORTER

Northwest Public Radio and Television – the NPR and PBS member stations based at Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication – is hiring a multi-platform journalist to report on issues of importance to the Northwest region, with focus on Central Washington. Must be fluent in Spanish and English. Journalist will run Yakima bureau under direction of the news manager based in Pullman, WA. Must be a tenacious journalist with unwavering commitment to the importance of ethical, fair, accurate journalism who believes in the power of purpose of public media.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS:

-Minimum 2 years reporting/journalism experience

-File spot, feature and in-depth news reports across all mediums

-Represent Northwest Public Radio and Television as a journalist and staff member as needed.

-Be a voice in the region for honest, accurate, fair, ethical journalism.

-Be open to learning new and emerging technologies for news reporting and public engagement.

-Fluent in Spanish and English

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Customer service experience which includes telephone or reception duties.

Perform a variety of complex and unique duties associated with public media programs.

Assist principles in major giving, membership and outreach with donor relations.
