KTNW: Equipment Install
Before we take KTNW off the air for a few hours, we always want to make sure it causes the least amount of disruptions as possible to our viewers.
Wednesday, July 29th the engineering staff took down our signal to better improve diagnostics of our transmitter site. Our Broadcast Chief Engineer in the Tri-Cities John McDaniel said, "we were installing a transmitter monitoring and control IP link, between Johnson and Jump off Joe Butte."
New equipment like this allows us to better keep track of what's happening at our transmitter sites. McDaniel says the new link will, "allow us to monitor and control the transmitter locally for quicker response to outages and problems."
Our thanks to our viewers and supporters for your continued understanding as we make sure we're bringing the best programs & signal to your home on a consistent basis. We know that taking our station down for a few hours is disruptive, but we hope you understand why we have to do it from time to time.
If you have any questions/concerns please feel free to reach out to our Production Manager, Kanale Rhoden, or call us at 1-800-922-4220. Thanks for supporting YOUR local PBS station, Northwest Public Television.
