For many beginners, shopping for wine can be overwhelming. Andy suggests bringing them something that they cannot find easily because it isn’t special, something that isn’t on the store shelves would be best. Andy suggests Zinfandel because it is an unusual wine and delights more.

Andy Perdue, a native of Bellingham, Washington is a publisher and editor for Great Northwest Wine and a Wine columnist for the Seattle Times. Originally trained in journalism and history, Andy first began his journey in the wine business in 1997 while working for the Tri-City Herald when he and his business partner decided to start a wine magazine called Wine Press Northwest.

Andy and his business partner were the editors of Wine Press Northwest for nearly 16 years and now spend time judging and tasting several thousand wines a year. “We weren’t really necessarily wine experts when we started the magazine, but we were wine enthusiasts, and as a result we became wine experts.” Andy said.
